THANE: BJP MP
Narayan Rane has lashed out at the Maharashtra government for failing to reduce taxes on fuel and blaming the Centre for rising prices.
Rane was in Thane, Tuesday, and addressing the media and briefing them about various budget related issues where he sought to know why the Shiv Sena-led government wasn't reducinge state levied taxes and give relief to the aam aadmi instead of blaming the Centre.
He dismissed any possibility of reducing the fuel rates and blamed the high international barrel rates for the rising prices.
"If the state is worried about rising prices, they should first reduce the quantum of taxes levied on it and then criticize the Centre," said Rane.
Meanwhile, the former chief minister also chided the state government for its handling of the Covid situation and said the present talks of second lockdown seemed to be a ploy to cut down on the forthcoming budget sessions.
"The state coffers are empty and they have nothing to offer to residents. They are wary of opposition scrutiny and desperately want to cut down on the budget session time," said Rane.
