Sikkim : Stranded tourists rescued by army; no civilian vehicles permitted to Tsongmu Lake today

Gangtok, Feb 16 (UNI) Due to heavy snowfall yesterday afternoon, the permits for Tsongmu Lake, a renowned tourist destination, were not issued today.
Thirty tourists, who had gone to Tsongmu were stranded on their way back, Tourist Information desk confirmed.
They were rescued last night by the Indian Army and provided food, medicines and shelter. They were also transported to Gangtok by the Army this morning.
It snowed today afternoon also.
The weatherman has said snowfall is likely in higher altitudes on Wednesday as well.
