IPL 2021 Auction: Glenn Maxwell big wish, ‘want to play for RCB with my idol AB de Villiers”

IPL 2021 auction- Glenn Maxwell Big Wish to play for RCB with AB De Villiers: With three days to go for IPL 2021 auction, Australian allrounder Glenn Maxwell is excited and said he would not mind playing for the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) as it would allow him to play alongside his “idol”, AB de Villiers.

“That’ll be awesome. AB [is] one of my idols and one of the guys I’ve always tried to watch the way he goes about [things],” Maxwell said during a media interaction on Thursday.

Maxwell is part of the Australian squad for the upcoming T20I series against New Zealand. “It’ll be awesome to work with him, and he is always been really helpful to me along the journey,” he added.

RCB released most players including Chris Morris, Shivam Dube and Moeen Ali. The Virat Kohli-led side will be looking for an allrounder. Maxwell is keen to join the Bangalore-side and said that he “gets along” well the with Kohli.

“I get along with Virat pretty well. It’ll be certainly nice to work under Virat and will certainly enjoy batting with him – that’s for sure.”

If the RCB do manage to hire Maxwell, they will become the fourth franchise after Mumbai Indians. Delhi Capitals (DC) and twice with Kings XI Punjab (KXIP).

Maxwell is in IPL’s highest price bracket of Rs 2 crore. The IPL auctions will take place on February 18 at 3 PM.

“The Australian team is generally together for a one-day series somewhere in Australia and we get to watch it together and congratulate and commiserate each other depending on what they went for or if they didn’t go. So it’s stressful day for a lot of people, and I’ve been lucky to be on the good side of it a fair few times,” he said.
