Mumbai: Palghar Zilla Parishad president fined by collector for not wearing mask

MUMBAI: The Palghar Zilla Parishad (ZP) president and Shiv Sena leader Bharati Kamdi was fined by the district collector for not wearing a mask while entering his office on Tuesday.
Kamdi was the chief guest at the R R Patil Smart Villages scheme award function organised by the collectorate in the honour of the late deputy chief minister who passed away on February 16, 2015.
Kamdi who arrived in the collectorate building went to meet the collector Dr Manik Gursal.
As Kamdi entered the collector's cabin, he found her without a mask.
He along with other government officers and staff seated in the cabin had worn masks.
Kamdi, a resident of Vikramgad in Palghar district, apologised for not wearing a mask and paid the fine of Rs 200.
She was then handed over a mask by the ZP Deputy Chief Executive Officer Chandrakant Waghmare.
Dr Gursal said that the 'no mask, no entry' rule is to be followed in all government offices. As a public servant she needs to wear a mask.
He said that finding her was a way of sending out a message to all that the pandemic is not over and wearing a mask is mandatory.
During his visit to Jawhar taluka of Palghar district on February 12, chief minister Uddhav Thackery and all those whom he interacted with were in masks.
