Chavan demands funds for Marathwada

Nanded, Feb 15 (UNI) The guardian minister of the district Ashok Chavan urged the Finance Department to make more provision in the District Development Plan to address the backwardness in Marathwada. He demanded that the district needs 68 ambulances. He also drew the attention of the Finance and Planning Minister Ajit Pawar to the fact that the population of Nanded district, extended over 16 tehsils, human development index should be taken into consideration and the provision should be increased as demanded in the development plan of the district.
The Corona crisis has reduced the state's revenue by Rs 1 lakh crore in the last one year. Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar said that due to many financial challenges, this has put limits on the draft of the District Development Plan and the additional provision required for it. He was speaking at the state level draft review meeting of all the eight districts in Marathwada, organised in Aurangabad, today.
The government has set an outlay limit of Rs 255.32 crore for the district including Rs. 200 for various schemes like Health, Energy, Anganwadi Construction, Rural Roads, Other District Roads, General Education, Rural Development, Tourism, Pilgrimage, Animal Husbandry, Forest Urban Development, Home Department, Tanda Development, General Financial Services etc. An additional demand of Rs 200 crores was made.
Considering the financial condition of the state, the plan of Rs 355 crore for the year 2021-22 was finalized in today's meeting by increasing the fund by Rs 100 crore as per the norms decided by the planning department. Ajit Pawar clarified that an increase of Rs. 100 crore has been given considering the expansion of Nanded district and other criteria.
Minister of State for Public Works and Guardian Minister of Nanded District Ashok Chavan, President of Zilla Parishad Mangarani Ambulgekar, MLC Satish Chavan, MLAs Ram Patil Ratolikar, Shyamsunder Shinde and Rajesh Pawar addressed the state level meeting held at the Divisional Commissioner's Office, Aurangabad. Additional Chief Secretary (Planning) Debashish Chakraborty, Divisional Commissioner Sunil Kendrakar, Collector Dr Vipin Itankar, Chief Executive Officer of Zilla Parishad Varsha Thakur, Municipal Commissioner Dr Sunil Lahane, Deputy Commissioner of Planning Ravindra Jagtap, District Planning Officer Sudhakar Ade and various departments were present at the meeting.
