SC to consider PIL seeking priority in getting Covid vaccination for legal fraternity

New Delhi, Feb 16 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Tuesday agreed to hear a plea seeking priority in getting Covid vaccination for judges, judicial employees and members of legal fraternity, and issued notice to the Centre.

A three-judge bench, headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sharad Arvind Bobde, comprising Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramanian, said, "We will consider this issue. "

The matter will be heard after two weeks, the bench added.

The plea filed by Arvind Singh argued that the government has prioritised vaccination for police, healthcare workers, security personnel and revenue officials, and all culminates in judiciary.

Therefore, members of the legal and judicial system should be given priority, the petitioner added.

Last month, the Supreme Court Bar Association had written to the government for inclusion of judges, judicial staff and lawyers to get vaccination on priority.
