Mah: 15 labourers killed as truck overturns in Jalgaon

Jalgaon Feb 15 (UNI) About 15 labourers were killed when a truck carrying them overturned near Kingaon village in the district, police said on Monday.

According to police, the accident occured on Sunday night killing over 7 men, 6 women, and 2 children. Meanwhile, the truck driver has been arrested by the local police.



All the deceased were labourers from Abhoda, Kerhala, and Raver in the district, police said, adding they died after their papaya-laden truck overturned shortly after midnight near a temple at Kingaon village.





Five labourers have sustained serious injuries and are being treated at a rural hospital. The rover police team and other officials rushed to the spot.



Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also expressed condolences through his Twitter handle. "Heart-wrenching truck accident in Jalgaon, Maharashtra. Condolences to the bereaved families. May the injured recover at the earliest, " he tweeted.
