Couple injured in leopard attack in Kupwara

Srinagar, Feb 15 (UNI) A couple was injured in a leopard attack in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara on Monday, official sources said.

They said the leopard entered village Waderbala in Handwara from a nearby forest when people were busy with their daily lives. However, before the people could do anything, the leopard wounded a man and his wife.

''The wild animal later escaped back into the forest,'' they said, adding the injured, identified as Abdul Rashid Mir and Raja Begum, were rushed to a local hospital.

They said a wildlife team has been sent to the area to catch the leopard.
