Organic food lovers in the city had gala time shopping farm products grown without using chemicals and fertilizers in the Organic fair that was held today at the Press Club of Odisha. The organic farmers from various parts of the state had congregated at this one-day event to exhibit and sell their products.

Kartik Aruda, a young entrepreneur, who had visited the fair with some of his friends, said that it’s a good initiative to popularise organic farm products and hold such fairs, where people can also buy for their consumption. “More city people are going for organic food and organic products. They prefer these non-chemical stuffs over what’s available in the market. I also bought some of these products for my home,” said the youngster.
There were around 30 farmers and groups who had set up their stalls. From freshly harvested green vegetables to organic daily-use items, a wide range of products were on display in the fair. Many well-to-do people and youngsters paid a visit to the fair. Even a group of youngsters performed live music to add glamour to the event.
Yuvraj Swain, an organic farmer from Niali, said that they have been into this organic farming for quite some time. “We grow these vegetables using organic pasture and vermi-compost. These products are chemical free and healthy. The fair helps us showcase our farm products to city people, who want these organic foods, but don’t get it regularly,’ said the farmer.
