DETROIT — Geoffrey Smith has joined Automotive News as assistant editor of autonews.com.
Smith, 49, has been working as a freelance writer for Hour Media in Troy, Mich., and as a freelance copy editor for Nikkei America Inc. since his arrival in Michigan in 2019.
Before that, Smith, who has a master's degree in journalism from the University of Missouri, spent 12 years at Nikkei's New York office, editing stories for the Japanese newspaper group's English-language website and magazine.
He previously worked as a reporter for Bloomberg News, covering energy markets and general business news in New York.
