Meghalaya assembly budget session to begin from March 5

Shillong, Feb 15 (UNI) The budget session of the Meghalaya Assembly will start here on March 5.
The session is likely to be a stormy one as the opposition Congress party is expected to raise the illegal mining and transportation of coal, besides price rise and corruption.
During the session, four days have been earmarked for Private members’ business and seven days for Government business.
The Meghalaya Democratic Alliance government would be presented the budget after the lockdown and is likely to announce some sops to rejuvenate the economy.
Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, who also the hold Finance portfolio, will present the budget of estimates on March 10.
Sangma always put up a strong fight in the Assembly whenever the opposition Congress tried to corner it, defending that the issues raised by the opposition were worst when it was in power.
However, with the number of evidence piling up against the government for failing to stop the illegal coal mining in the State, it’s unlikely to be easy going for the Chief Minister to continue defending the government.
