Australian Open: Barty, Nadal, Medvedev advance to quarter-finals

Melbourne, Feb 15 (UNI) Ash Barty, Rafael Nadal, Daniil Medvedev, Jessica Pegula cruised into the Australian Open quarter-finals after winning their respective matches on the eighth day of the tournament, here on Monday.
World No 1 Ash Barty sealed a comfortable 6-3 6-4 win over American Shelby Rogers to move into the Australian Open quarter-finals.
Barty, who is aiming to become the first Australian to win the women's singles since 1978, will face
Czech Karolina Muchova in the quarters.
Rafael Nadal, the 2009 champion sealed a dominant 6-3 6-4 6-2 win over Italian 16th seed Fabio Fognini in two hours and 16 minutes to book his place in the Australian Open quarter-finals for the 13th time.
Nadal, who is chasing a record 21st Grand Slam title, will face Greek fifth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the last eight.
Meanwhile, fourth seed Daniil Medvedev entered into the quarter-finals with a clinical 6-4 6-2 6-3 victory over American world number 192 Mackenzie McDonald in the one-sided contest in 90 minutes.
With Medvedev win, there are three Russians in the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam for the first time in the Open era. Medvedev will face compatriot Andrey Rublev in the last eight.
American Jessica Pegula produced a shock 6-3 3-6 6-3 win to knock out Ukrainian fifth seed Elina Svitolina to reach the quarter-finals at a Grand Slam for the first time.
The 26-year-old will face fellow American Jennifer Brady, who beat Croatia's Donna Vekic 6-1 7-5.
