Stock market update: Auto stocks advance; Motherson Sumi surges 9%

NEW DELHI: Auto stocks were trading higher at 01:38PM (IST) on Monday.

Shares of Motherson Sumi Systems (up 9.3 per cent), Ashok Leyland (up 2.07 per cent), Bosch (up 1.82 per cent), Exide Industries (up 1.28 per cent) and Tata Motors (up 0.61 per cent) were among the top gainers.

While Amara Raja Batteries (down 5.64 per cent), Bharat Forge (down 3.13 per cent), Balkrishna Industries (down 1.3 per cent), Hero MotoCorp (down 0.87 per cent) and Eicher Motors (down 0.52 per cent) were the top losers in the index.

The Nifty Auto index was trading 0.53 per cent up at 10969.6 around 01:38PM.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was up 149.70 points at 15313.0, while the BSE Sensex was up 584.9 points at 52129.2.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 30 were trading in the green, while 20 were in the red.

Shares of Vodafone Idea, Motherson Sumi, PNB, IDFC First Bank and YES Bank were among the most traded shares on the NSE.

Shares of Route Mobile, MahindraCIE, Adani Gas and Adani Trans hit their fresh 52 week high in today's trade, while Sanwaria Consumer Ltd. and We Win Ltd. hit fresh 52 week low in trade.
