Nagpur: Districts in Amravati division recorded high number of Covid-19 cases in the last six days while all districts, except Nagpur, in Nagpur division had shown good control over the spread of virus. However, on Sunday even Bhandara, Chandrapur and Gadchiroli districts in the division recorded more cases than number of recoveries, which resulted in 1,356 new cases in a day for Vidarbha.
It was the highest tally of single-day cases for the region this year so far.
Apart from Nagpur district which registered highest 455 cases for the day, other districts in Nagpur division also reported more cases than their previous day average on Sunday. Bhandara (19), Chandrapur (19), Gadchiroli (7), and Wardha (69) raised the alarm for east Vidarbha too. Gondia was the only district where only one new case was reported.
Amravati division, which is already suffering from new wave like situation, added to its surge. Amravati (399), Yavatmal (115), Akola (113), and Buldhana (110), reported more than 100 cases while Washim at 49 reported its highest spike this year.
Day’s 854 recoveries came from Nagpur (251), Amravati (374), Yavatmal (65), Akola (48), Buldhana (46), Washim (25), Wardha (14), Chandrapur (12), Bhandara (11), Gondia (4), Gadchiroli (4).
With the gap between new cases and recoveries widening, it is resulting in increased in under-treatment patients. Vidarbha now has 8,134 patients under treatment. Relief factor is that a very few of them are hospitalized and a majority are recovering in home isolation.
Overall, Vidarbha’s recovery rate is 94.6% which has declined constantly in the last five days. The national average recovery rate is 1.43% while the state is 95.7%.
Fatalities, which were in single-digit during last two days, reached double digits on Sunday. Out of the 12 deaths reported on Sunday, six were from Nagpur district — 3 from Nagpur city, one from district and two deceased were patients from other states/regions.
Amravati reported three deaths, Wardha (1), Akola (1) and Buldhana (1). Vidarbha’s toll is now 7,101 and case fatality rate is 2.49%.
Amravati: A spike of 399 cases and three Covid deaths increased concern for the district on Sunday. The toll reached 435 while the caseload crossed the 25,000-mark to reach 25,294. Recoveries reached 23,754 with 374 more patients getting discharge, leaving 1,105 active cases.
Chandrapur: There were 19 new cases and 12 recoveries on Sunday, leaving 103 active patients in the district. There was no death during the day and toll was stable at 393. The caseload has increased to 23,234, including 22,738 recoveries.
Yavatmal: Though no death was report in the district on Sunday, the number of patients is mounting alarmingly. Out of the 519 reports received on Sunday, 115 came positive. The caseload has increased to 15,238 while recoveries touched 14,199, including 65 during the day. The toll remains unchanged at 441. Now, there are 601 active patients in the district.
Wardha: A 85-year-old man from city died on Sunday, taking the toll to 320. Addition of 69 new patients increased the caseload to 10,731. Recoveries reached 9,904 after 14 patients were discharged of Sunday. Now, there are 507 patients under-treatment in the district. New cases came from Wardha (51), Hinganghat (7), Selu (5), Ashti (4), Arvi and Samudrapur tehsils (one each).
Akola: The district reported 113 new cases, 48 recoveries and a death on Sunday. Caseload has reached 12,395, including 11,140 recoveries and 343 deaths. Now, 912 patients are under treatment.
Washim: The district reported 49 new cases on Sunday, it’s highest single day spike this year so far. Case count reached 7,334, including 7,050 recoveries and 156 deaths. Now, 127 patients are under treatment.
Buldhana: A spike of 110 new cases, only 46 recoveries and a death of a senior citizen was reported in Buldhana on Sunday. The district now has 14,815 cases, 14,115 recoveries and 177 deaths. Total 523 patients are under treatment.
Gadchiroli: The district is likely to become the first ever Covid-19 free district of Maharashtra soon, with only 20 patients under treatment now. It reported seven new cases and four recoveries on Sunday. Now, Gadchiroli has 9,403 cases, 9,278 recoveries and 105 deaths.
Bhandara: The district reported 19 new cases and 11 recoveries on Sunday. No death was reported. Now, Bhandara has 13,374 cases, 12940 recoveries and 326 deaths reported till date. Now, 1,085 patients are under treatment.
Gondia: The district reported only one new case on Sunday, which is record for Gondia. The caseload reached 14,290. Four patients recovered which took number of recoveries to 14,025. With 183 deaths reported till date, Gondia has 82 patients under treatment.
