CHENNAI: Hours after its arch-rival AIADMK announced the date for receiving the applications for the assembly polls, the DMK on Monday evening declared that it would receive applications from candidates interested in contesting the polls in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry from February 17. The exercise would continue till February 24.
In a statement, general secretary of the party S Durai Murugan said the nomination fee for the applicants in the general constituency had been fixed at Rs 25,000 while it fixed Rs 15,000 for constituencies reserved for SC/ST and women. The application is available at the party headquarters for Rs 1,000.
After the seat sharing with alliance parties, the party would return the nomination fee to the candidates, who applied for the constituencies that were allocated to the allies.
The party would invite candidates on regional wise for interview and assessment to finalise the candidates.
