A suspect who police describe as a "drug kingpin" has been arrested in Pacaltsdorp near George and is due to appear in court on Monday.
The arrest was made during weekend crime prevention patrols after Western Cape police officers received a tip-off about a vehicle parked in front of a known drug outlet in Pacaltsdorp.
The officers strategically approached a blue Audi S3 and found the suspect in the vehicle.
"Upon searching the vehicle, they found an unlicenced MW revolver and six live rounds in possession of the suspect. Further investigation and searching of the vehicle resulted in the... confiscation of a bag containing 55 grams of dagga," police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie said.
He said the firearm, ammunition and dagga were confiscated and handed in as evidence. The 38-year-old suspect was arrested for the alleged possession of an unlicenced firearm and ammunition, as well as possession of drugs.
The suspect was expected to appear in the George Magistrate's Court on Monday.
