As for Day 1, after England took the first wicket in the second over of the innings, Rohit Sharma's talent and strokeplay were on display. India's No 3 Cheteshwar Pujara and skipper Virat Kohli could not contribute much but Rohit found an able partner in Ajinkya Rahane.
The duo helped India take the game away from the visitors. Despite both got out in quick succession and Ravichandran Ashwin followed them soon to the pavilion, Rishabh Pant was unbeaten on 33.
England are 1-0 up in the four-test series having won the opening match by 227 runs.
