Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker Unveiled the Statue of Maharana Pratap Near Bus Stand, Barwala

Panchkula, February 14: Haryana Vidhan Sabha Speaker, Mr. Gian Chand Gupta unveiled the statue of Maharana Pratap near bus stand, Barwala today. Mr. Gupta had given a grant of Rs. 19 lakhs to the Gram Panchayat for the construction of this statue.

On this occasion, Sarpanch of village Barwala, Mr. Baljinder Goyal, and other prominent people of Rajput Community including President Rajput Sabha, Panchkula, Mr. Dharam Singh Rajput, Mr. Krishan Pal Rana, Mr. Ravinder Rana, Mr. Kushal Pal, Mr. Virender Bhau honored Mr. Gian Chand Gupta by presenting him a turban and a shawl. Mr. Gupta was also presented with a mace and sword as a mark of respect.

While congratulating the people of Barwala, Mr. Gupta said that with the unveiling of the statue of Maharana Pratap today by him, the long standing demand of people of this area have been realized. He said that Maharana Pratap was a great warrior who fought against the Mughals and sacrificed his life for the freedom of the country. About 20,000 soldiers laid down their lives in the battle of Haldighati and even then, Maharana Pratap never bowed down to the Mughals. He urged the young generation to take inspiration from the life of Maharana Pratap and said that they should always be prepared for any sacrifice for the unity and integrity of the country.

On this occasion, Mr. Gupta also handed over possession certificates of plots measuring 100 square yards to the remaining 38 beneficiaries of village Barwala belonging to Scheduled Castes and Backward Classes. These beneficiaries have been waiting for the possession certificate of their plots since 1975. He assured that the remaining poor families of the village will also be provided plots measuring 100 square yards each provided that the gram panchayat Barwala made available land for the same.

He said that a Nursing College will be set up over 10 acres of land in village Bataur in district Panchkula. The setting up of this College will not only enable the girl students of this area to pursue a course in Nursing but also generate ample employment opportunities, he added.

Mr. Gupta said that the Nursing College which has been approved to be set up in village Bataur will largely benefit the students of village Bataur and nearby areas. He said that a provision of a minimum of 10 percent reservation in admission has been made for the students of Barwala block and efforts will be made to further increase it to 20 percent. At present, there is a lot of demand for nurses in hospitals and after completing their course from this College, the girls of this area would be able to get ample employment opportunities, he further added.

On this occasion, he also announced that work of laying sewerage in village Barwala will start in the next 6 to 8 months. He also announced that expenditure on the construction of stage in Ramlila ground in the village will be borne by him out of his discretionary fund.

The Vidhan Speaker said that people of this area have always supported him and as a result of this, he has got an opportunity to serve the people of district Panchkula for the second consecutive term. He said that development works worth Rs 4000 crore have been carried out in the district during the last six years. These include works in both rural and urban areas.

Mr. Gupta said that 212 development works have been completed in Barwala alone during this period by rising above the consideration of caste and creed. He said that a 24-hour power supply has been ensured in district Panchkula under the Mhara Gaon-Jagmag Gaon scheme. Apart from this, 45 tubewells have been installed in Barwala block and crores of rupees have been spent on the re-carpeting of roads. He said that seven new bridges have been constructed in the Barwala block. A bridge in village Khatauli in district Panchkula is being constructed at a cost of Rs 15 crore.

Earlier, speaking on this occasion, Mayor, Municipal Corporation, Panchkula Mr. Kulbhushan Goyal described the unveiling of the statue of Maharana Pratap as momentous and urged the young generation to draw inspiration from the life of the great warrior.

Sarpanch of village Barwala, Mr. Baljinder Goyal thanked Haryana Vidhan Speaker, Mr. Gian Chand Gupta for unveiling the statue of Maharana Pratap and also carrying out various development works in the village. Mr. Baljinder also put forth several demands before Mr. Gian Chand Gupta who assured him that all the genuine demands would be sympathetically considered.

Among those present on this occasion included District BJP President, Mr. Ajay Sharma, Chairperson, Zila Parishad Panchkula, Mrs. Ritu Singla, Panchkula BJP General Secretary, Mr. Virender Rana, former Zila Parishad Chairman, Mr. Ravinder Bataur, former Chairman, Market Committee, Barwala Mr. Bal Singh Rana, Mr. Gautam Rana, Mr. Hem Singh Rana, Bataur, Sarpanch of village Khatauli Mr. Nathu Rana, Mr. Om Parkash Devinagar, sarpanches of all villages falling under Barwala block and a large number of people.
