Mini marathon held in Trichy city to create awareness on road safety

Locals participates in the mini marathon in Trichy.
TRICHY: As a part of the thirty-second road safety awareness month, Trichy city police and other stakeholders conducted a mini-marathon in the city on Sunday.
The marathon was organised for men and women separately and six winners from each category were awarded prizes and certificates.
The mini-marathon was flagged off by district collector S Sivarasu and Trichy city police commissioner J Loganathan from Anna Nagar Uzhavar Sandhai ground.
Passing through MGR statue, Bharathidasan road, Pudukkottai road and TVS tollgate, the 5km long mini-marathon concluded at Anna sports complex in Khajamalai.
Renuka and Saravanan both hailing from Thanjavur grabbed the first prize in women and men categories respectively.
Placards promoting the mandatory use of helmets while riding two-wheelers and using seat belts while driving cars were placed in the marathon route to encourage locals to adopt road safety measures.
