House of BJP leader attacked by party goons: Case lodged

Ambassa (Tripura), Feb 14 (UNI) In a most annoying happening for the in-power BJP, the house of a BJP leader was attacked by the party goons last night in the bordering subdivision of Kamalpur in the northern Tripura district of Dhalai, informed police.
According to the incident, some local youths belonging to BJP attacked the house of Paritosh Pal, the former BJP District Secretary around 2400 hrs. His wife Swapna Das (Paul) is the former Vice Chairperson of local Kamalpur Nagar Panchayat and State Assistant Secretary of BJP Mahila Morcha. The goons threw bottles and stones at random in the house and also threatened the couple with dire consequences like snatching of life.
After a while, Paritosh and Swapna came out of their house and apprehended an attacker identified as Pantanu Deb and handed him over to police after beating him black and blue. Later this morning a case was lodged against five persons identified as Sanjoy Deb, Mrinmoy Roy, Tamal Deb, Debadyuti Sikidar and Pantanu Deb.
However, the incident sparked resentment as the alleged attackers belonged to be the aides of Paritosh Pal till six months ago. Hence the incident sparked resentment and curiosity among local people. However, local leaders denied commenting on the issue.
