Chennai: Road caves in on Sardar Patel road in Adyar

The road in Adyar caved in following corrosion of water pipeline.
CHENNAI: The Sardar Patel Road in Adyar under MRTS line caved in for the fourth time after a metro water pipeline burst on Saturday.
Even in November, 2020, the road was repaired after a pipeline burst. This time a metro water pipeline was corroded.
D Balaji, a resident of the area, said that he stays close to the road and there was a traffic jam due to this.
“The place was barricaded and work had begun. However, we require a permanent solution to the issue as VIPs travel on this road. Not many companies, schools and shops are open. When they open soon, this will cause a huge commotion. They can set up trenches and lay pipes inside. This was done in T Nagar. This plan will ensure repair work is carried out easily without blocking traffic,” he said.
Another resident Gowri expressed her concern over the threat it poses to people's life as the pit is five to eight feet deep.
