Lowest ever Covid infection cases reported in Pondy

Puducherry, Feb 14 (UNI) Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) infection drastically came down in the Union Territory with just 8 persons testing positive in the last 24 hours on Sunday, the lowest ever since the outbreak of the pandemic.
However, one death was reported in the last 24 hours in the Puducherry region.
According to the Covid-19 status for Sunday released by the health department, of the 1930 swab tests taken yesterday, eight reported positive for the virus. Five new cases were reported in Puducherry region, one in Karaikal and two in Mahe region. As many as 33 persons were discharged in the last 24 hours.Ten each of them were from Puducherry and mahe region, and 13 from Karaikal region.
Presently, 89 persons are being treated in Puducherry region,15 in Karaikal and 7 in Mahe region. Another 147 positive cases are under home isolation in Puducherry, Karaikal and Mahe regions.
So far, 39448 persons were infected by the virus of which 38533 were treated and discharged and 657 died leaving 258 active cases here. The case fatality rate in the UT is 1.67 percent and recovery rate 97.68 percent.
A 50-year-old man with acute Kidney injury and Diabetes Mellitus as co-morbidity died in Jipmer yesterday due to Covid Pneumonia and Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome.
As many as 5953 Covid vaccines were administered to the Health care workers and Frontline workers in the UT. While, 5644 vaccines were given to Health care workers in the last 17 days,309 vaccines were given to front line workers in six days.
