West Brom, who needed a win to avoid relegation, stunned the Red Devils with an 83-second goal for on-loan striker Mbaye Diagne who beat defender Victor Lindelof to head home.
United looked out-of-sorts for the entire half, but their talismanic midfield Bruno Fernandes stepped up yet again in the 44th minute to equalise with a spectacular stunner from Luke Shaw’s cross near the penalty spot.
