NC gets Bandipora, Baramulla goes to independent in DDC chairperson elections

Srinagar, Feb 13 (UNI) National Conference (NC) a constituent of Peoples Alliance for Gupkar Declaration (PAGD) won the chairman post in the District Development Council (DDC) elections in Bandipora while an independent member emerged winner in Baramulla.
Deputy Commissioner Bandipora said Abdul Gani Bhat of NC and Kaunsar Shafeeq of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) have been elected as Chairperson and vice-chairperson respectively in the elections today.
However, in Baramulla, where election was postponed on February, independent member Safena Baig emerged winner. Safeena, wife of former PDP patron, polled ten votes against her PDP rival who got just four votes. Sonaullah Parrey of Peoples Conference (PC) was elected vice chairperson.
PC president congratulated Parrey for being elected vice chairperson.
