Rajewal claims threat to life, refuses security

Bathinda: Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) senior leader Balbir Singh Rajewal has got a threat to his life on his mobile phone. Going by the threat perception, Punjab government has offered security cover to Rajewal, but he has declined it.
On January 20, BKU senior leader Rakesh Tikait had got a threat through a tweet and Darshan Pal had got threat on his phone, while objectionable language was also used against him. Farm leaders had raised the matter in a meeting with central ministers on January 22.
Rajewal said, “I got a threat call on my phone day before yesterday. As news spread, the Punjab government offered me security, which I politely declined. Getting threats is a part and parcel of life when any andolan (revolution) becomes a threat for the government,” he added. He hinted at some agencies being behind the threat call.
Rajewal also said these threats could not keep him away from the struggle, which had become international now and threats would only firm up his resolve to fight with renewed vigour.
