86' GOOD CATCH! This was another good Seriton Fernandes delivery towards the far post from the right flank. Vishal Kaith shouted to his teammates to leave the ball alone for him and collected it successfully.

84' DOUBLE SUBSTITUTION! Chennaiyin FC manager Csaba Laszlo decides to bring on Deepak Tangri and Esmael Goncalves to replace Manuel Lanzarote and Jakub Sylvestr on the field. Both coaches are extremely animated on the sidelines.

81' OFFSIDE! Alberto Noguera's through-ball towards Seriton Fernandes on the right is a good one. But it is flagged offside by the linesman. The goal is not given.

78' BOOKING! Another Chennaiyin FC player is booked tonight. This time it's the new signing and former FC Goa player -- Manuel Lanzarote. The referee hands him a yellow card for a dangerous high boot.

75' AND IT'S TIME FOR THE FINAL DRINKS BREAK OF THE MATCH!

72' CROSS! This was a good FC Goa team move. Seriton Fernandes dribbles past an opposition player and sends a low cross into the box. However, Reagan Singh clears the ball away to safety.

69' YELLOW CARD! Finally, the first booking of the match from the lenient referee. Reagan Singh is penalised for putting up a late challenge on Jorge Ortiz. The Goa playmaker isn't happy as he argues with Reagan.

66' Chennaiyin FC has started to sit deep here. FC Goa is attacking with numbers forward. The Spanish frontline of the Gaurs, alongside super-sub Pandita, will be extremely crucial now.

63' CHANGE! Ferrando makes a second substitution here. He brings on Ishan Pandita to replace Alexander Jesuraj in the middle. Csaba Laszlo is yet to make a change for CFC tonight.

60' GOOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!! LALLIANZUALA CHHANGTE SCORES!!! CHENNAIYIN FC 2 - 1 FC GOA!!!!! CFC full-back Reagan Singh's cross into the box was a decent one. Dheeraj Singh called for it. But he wasn't able to collect the ball cleanly after a near collision with Mohamed Ali. Chhangte eventually received the ball and slotted it into an empty net.

58' SUBSTITUTION! FC Goa manager Juan Ferrando is forced to make a change here. Defender Adil Khan is being stretchered off. He will be replaced by Mohamed Ali on the field.

56' OFFSIDE! FC Goa striker Igor Angulo was a little too eager to get to Alexander Jesuraj's through-pass the right. The linesman immediately raises his flag.

54' SET-PIECE FOR CFC! Jerry Lalrinzuala plays a low cross towards Jakub Sylvestr in the middle. The latter's shot is saved by Dheeraj Singh. Manuel Lanzarote takes the resultant corner but his cross is easily cleared away by the Goa defence.

51' CORNER FOR FCG! Alberto Noguera will take this one. He makes a short pass to Jorge Ortiz and receives the ball back. However, his supply into the box is a poor one as Chennai regains possession.

48' SAVE! Alexander Jesuraj sends in a low cross into the box from the right. Glan Martin gets to the ball and has a shot on target. The alert CFC keeper Vishal Kaith makes the save for his side.

Striker Jakub Sylvestr gave Chennaiyin FC the lead in the 13th minute. But six minutes later, FC Goa equalised through an Igor Angulo penalty.

45+2' FOUL! Jorge Ortiz is fouled by Edwin Vanspaul in midfield. The Spanish midfielder wanted the referee to signal play on. But he wins a free-kick for his side in the end.

45' Two minutes of stoppage time to be added on at the end of the first half! At the other end, Igor Angulo shoots on target from close range after receiving a pass from Edu Bedia. But Vishal Kaith makes a good save to avert the danger.

42' WHAT A CHANCE! FC Goa defender Ivan Gonzalez messes up an easy pass. He sends it straight to CFC striker Jakub Sylvestr, who gets into the box and hits the post with his shot from a narrow angle. This is a close save for FCG!

40' VERY CLOSE! CFC's Memo Moura gets the ball just outside the box. He sets up Lallianzuala Chhangte in front of him. The Chennai winger fires a shot but it misses the target by a whisker.

37' CORNER! Chennaiyin FC wins another corner-kick. Manuel Lanzarote will take this one from the left. He swings a cross into the middle. But a Goa defender manages to head the ball out of the box. It falls to Jorge Ortiz who makes the clearance.

34' SET-PIECE FOR CFC! FC Goa midfielder Glan Martins pushes Jerry Lalrinzuala down from behind this time around. Still no booking from the man in charge tonight.

31' AND IT'S TIME FOR THE FIRST HALF COOLING BREAK!

28' FREE-KICK FOR FCG! Chennaiyin FC forward Rahim Ali puts up a silly tackle on Saviour Gama in desperation to concede a set-piece. The referee doesn't hand Rahim a card.

25' After Chennaiyin FC's bright start early on, FC Goa has completely dominated the last few minutes. The Gaurs have been the better passing and attacking team tonight so far.

22' CHANCE FOR FCG! Glan Martins plays a long ball across from midfield. Seriton Fernandes sprints towards it. But he's unable to get to it as Chennaiyin FC wins a goal-kick.

19' GOOOOOAAAAAALLLLLLL!!!!! IGOR ANGULO SCORESSSSS!!!! FC GOA 1 - 1 CHENNAIYIN FC!!! The referee had disallowed Angulo's first goal after players from both sides ran in a bit early. The Spanish striker made no mistake the second time as well despite Vishal Kaith's dive in the right direction. Angulo equals Roy Krishna in the golden boot race with 12 goals.

16' PENALTY FOR FC GOA! Eli Sabia handles the ball inside the box. Alexander Jesuraj sent a cross from the right. Igor Angulo headed it on target but Sabia unintentionally stops it with his hand. The referee, after a brief hesitation, points to the spot.

13' GOOOOOAAAAALLLLLL!!!!!!! JAKUB SYLVESTR SCORES!!! CHENNAIYIN FC 1 - 0 FC GOA!!!!! The Goan defence was caught napping here. Reagan Singh executed a brilliant one-two pass with Sylvestr. The CFC full-back took a little too long to pass it back to his striker. But a failed tackle from Adil Khan sent the ball towards Sylvestr, who dribbled past two more defenders to find the back of the net.

10' FOUL! Jerry Lalrinzuala brings down Alberto Noguera in midfield. FC Goa wins a set-piece in midfield. However, the Chennaiyin FC player is not booked by the referee.

8' CROSS! Alexander Jesuraj with a brilliant run on the right flank. He sends a low cross into the box. It hits a Chennai defender and reaches Glan Martins, whose shot is blocked again.

5' FREE-KICK FOR FCG! Jorge Ortiz will take it. He sends a cross into the box with his left foot. But Chennaiyin FC centre-back Eli Sabia clears the ball away with a header.

2' CHANCE FOR CFC! Goa defender Seriton Fernandes comes up with a wayward pass. He tries to find his goalkeeper Dheeraj Singh. Jakub Sylvestr rushes to the ball but Dheeraj somehow clears it.

7:30 PM: AND THE MATCH BEGINS!

7:10 PM: STAT ATTACK! Chennaiyin FC has not scored a goal in 10 out of 17 games it has played this season. However, the team has taken 220 shots so far (second highest in the league) and it has created 173 chances, which is the third highest in the league.

Meanwhile, FC Goa has kept just two clean sheets this season. Only Odisha FC has kept fewer (one). The club has faced 179 shots so far which is the fifth lowest in the league and from that it has faced only 53 shots on target (third lowest in the league).

MATCH PREVIEW:

Chennaiyin FC is virtually out of the playoffs race in this edition of the Indian Super League. The two-time champion has had its chances but failed to make them count. Its opponent on Saturday at the GMC Stadium, FC Goa, will have the upper-hand despite Chennaiyin putting it across the Gaurs in their previous encounter.

Even a win for Chennaiyin might not put it in a favourable position as it needs other results to go its way. However, a defeat against Goa will be curtains for Chennaiyin.

Csaba Laszlo, Chennaiyin's head coach, put up a brave front. “We had a big chance to win the game against Jamshedpur. They had just one shot on target, but unfortunately, we conceded an own goal and lost a game at the last minute. This is very painful because we had good chances to score and win the game. But we have to take it how it is, and we have to concentrate on the next three games. It is most important that we go out against Goa and play for the club and show that we are still a good team,” he said. Chennaiyin’s lack of goals has hurt the team to no end. It hasn’t scored in 10 of the 17 games it has played this season.

Marco Pezzaiuoli appointed new Head Coach of Bengaluru FC  

With five consecutive draws, Goa hasn’t been spectacular but has fought with spirit more often than not. Especially the way it played against Mumbai City FC (for the 3-3 draw) in the last match, after being down for pretty much the entire duration of the contest.

For Goa’s coach Juan Ferrando, the target is simple. A victory here will be a huge step towards qualification for playoffs. “This team is working hard in training and matches,” he said. “The most important thing is our players have a strong personality and they want to win all the time. I'm very happy because when the score isn't good or when we are in a difficult moment, they keep going and display a strong mentality.”

ISL 2020-21 records Rs 9.5 crore football transfer fee  

On the defeat to Chennaiyin in the previous match, Ferrando said: “I remember (in the first game) against Chennaiyin, we had only two days to prepare for the game,” he said. "The team was very tired. Now the players may be tired but the mentality is different. We are more prepared. Sometimes we get it wrong in transitions, but it is better in the last few games.”

The seventh edition of the Indian Super League got underway inside a bio-bubble in Goa on November 20.

The tournament, spanning over four months, will see 11 teams play each other in a league and playoff format across three venues. Following the inclusion of SC East Bengal, this season will feature 115 games, up from 95 last season.
