Few irregularities should not undermine COVID testing in Bihar: PS

Patna, Feb 13 (UNI) Bihar government on Saturday made it clear that the Novel Coronavirus pandemic was handled with all sensitivity and seriousness and irregularities detected at few places in testing of COVID positive cases, should not be used to portray the performance of the entire state machinery in poor light, while action had been taken against the guilty on the basis of investigation.

Principal Secretary of State Health Department Pratyay Amrit told media persons here that District Magistrates had been directed to investigate the irregularities in Corona testings, which came to light recently. A total of 10 teams had been constituted and sent to districts for investigation of the irregularities, he added.

'Inquiry reports of 26 districts have been received so far,' said the Principal Secretary, adding that teams had been given the responsibility to cross check the phone numbers and residential addresses of those, who were tested for detection of Corona positive cases.

In Barhat and Sikandra block of Jamui districts, irregularities were found and action was taken against those found guilty, he said.

Mr Amrit further said that inquiry reports sent by the District Magistrates indicated the fact that persons, who were tested for Coronavirus, their residential addresses and mobile numbers were not properly maintained.

In some cases, mobile numbers were found incorrect while in some other cases, residential addresses were found wrong, he added.
