A protest was staged by a group of Jharkhand locals outside the DLF Promenade Mall, Vasant Kunj against international popstar Rihanna's cosmetic brand, Fenty Beauty. The agitators alleged that the brand, which is marketed by a French multinational Sephora, is involved in child abuse since it uses mica, which is mined in Jharkhand and involves lakhs of children to extract it (IANS)

The Delhi high court has asked the Delhi Police to file a status report on a social activist's allegation of misbehaviour and pushing by a caretaker of a shelter home at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Counsel for the petitioner, social activist Rachna Malik, submitted that the petitioner's complaint to the police apropos the misbehaviour and pushing by the caretaker at AIIMS has yielded no response.

A jewellery shop was allegedly looted by three persons in Tigri area of the national capital, the police said. The complainant, Kailash Chand Singhal, a resident of Krishna Park, Tigri alleged that he was sitting at his jewellery shop when the incident occurred. Read full story here

AAP MLA Saurabh Bharadwaj alleged that the central government allotted over two acres of prime land at Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Marg at just Rs 2 crore to Delhi BJP to build its office. He further alleged that the land was meant for a school and not for building the office of any political party.

Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) has sought action plans from land-owning authorities of all parks for using treated water from Delhi Jal Board (DJB). National Green Tribunal had directed that all parks should take treated water through effluent or sewage treatment plants installed by DJB. Delhi has more than 17,000 parks and most of them are using water from borewells, said officials.

A cover of "moderate" fog enveloped Delhi on Friday morning, with the city recording a minimum temperature of 10.2 degrees Celsius, MeT officials said. The air quality in the national capital was recorded in the "very poor" category. The air quality index (AQI) was 331 at 9 am, real-time data of the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) showed. South Delhi Municipal Corporation has finalised its budget for 2021-22. With municipal elections scheduled for next year, all taxes that were proposed were rejected by the civic body, even as it also rolled back the tax hikes for commercial properties enforced through the 3rd Municipal Valuation Committee last July. The allocation for discretionary funds for councillors and chairpersons of committees and zones has been raised, while Rs 50 lakh has been set aside for every ward for repair of roads and back lanes. Each ward will also get Rs 5 lakh for streetlights.

Delhi Jal Board (DJB) plans to extract 55 million gallons per day (MGD) of additional groundwater through tubewells inside its water treatment plant complexes to augment the supply in summer months, water minister Satyendar Jain has said.
