GREATER NOIDA: Eight people have been arrested by the Greater Noida police in connection with the double murder in Badalpur area. Police said that the murders were a result of an old property dispute.
While three accused were arrested after a gunfight with police personnel late on Wednesday, four others were arrested after an encounter during police combing. One more accused was arrested in the case on Thursday evening.
Police said that Devendra, Ravindra and Bhopal were arrested after the gunfight while Satendra, Jitendra, Dharmendra and Mahipal were picked up during combing. Questioning revealed the involvement of another accomplice and Anupam was arrested from his house in Greater Noida.
Police added that a reward of Rs 25,000 each was announced for the arrest of the three main accused -- Devendra, Ravindra and Bhopal.
Harish Chander, deputy commissioner of police (Zone-2) Greater Noida, said police acted on a tip-off received and intercepted the accused near Ambedkar Park. “They were travelling in a swift car when police intercepted their way. They opened fire on police and when cops retaliate, Devendra, Ravindra and Bhopal suffered bullet injuries on their legs,” the DCP said.
The accused have been booked under Section 302 (punishment for murder) of IPC and the Arms Act.
