Country turn bankrupt under Modi govt : Manish Tiwari

Mohali, Feb 12 (UNI) Anandpur Sahib MP and senior Congress leader Manish Tiwari on Friday said Punjab Health and Family Welfare Minister Balbir Sidhu blasted BJP led central government for making the country bankrupt and said now there is Rs 18 lakh crore debt on Indian government.

Stating this while addressing a rally in support of Congress candidates for Mohali MC elections here, the Congress MP said the country's economy that grew at eight per cent every year during Manmohan Singh as Prime Minister has now fallen to minus 7.7 per cent. Thus the NDA government has dented the country socially, politically and internationally, he asserted.

He said," Punjab cabinet minister Balbir Singh Sidhu undertook many development works in Mohali but still many works are to be done. Whole country's eyes are on Mohali now and most of the investment coming into Punjab from outside is being invested in Mohali. Thus it is very important that people elect such MC which can work for Mohali development and future."

He said it was Congress that for local issues and all-round development the civic body role is very important. So it is the duty of the public to elect such candidates who can work honestly for the public. He said all Congress candidates for Mohali MC are intelligent, educated and dedicated persons with a background in social service. They have a vision for the progress and development of their respective wards.

Speaking on the occasion, cabinet minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa advised not to believe in those people who shift loyalties for their personal gains. The expectation of community development cannot be expected from these opportunistic businessmen, he said and added that these businessmen can not think of common man welfare as they would only think of their own welfare and their businesses. With their money power, they can only try to buy votes to come into the power, he maintained.
