Former HP Minister Sujan Singh Pathania dies at 78

Shimla, Feb 12 (UNI) Former Himachal Pradesh Minister and sitting MLA Sujan Singh Pathania passed away at his assembly constituency of Fatehpur in Kangra district on late Thursday following prolonged illness. He was 78.
Pathania suffered a paralysis attack in September 2017, after which he was immediately rushed to IGMC Hospital. He was undergoing treatment since then.
Born in Lahore, the seven-time legislator, served in the state forest department as Ranger Officer and resigned from service and joined Janata Party in 1977. He was elected to state legislative assembly in 1977 as Janata Party Candidate, re-elected to as Assembly 1990, 1993, 2003 (Jawali assembly segment), 2012 and 2017 (Fatehpur) on Congress party ticket.
Later, he served as Power Minister in last Cong government in 2012-2017. He also served as Minister of State for Agriculture (independent charge) during 1995-98.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur expressed his grief over the sudden demise of the late Congress leader. "Pathania ji always served people with dedication, which is inspiring. God give the departed soul a place in its shrine and provide support to the bereaved family," the CM said.
Himachal Congress chief Kuldeep Singh Rathore observed two minute silence before a meeting and prayed for the peace of the departed soul.

Directions issued to medical colleges and institutions in UP to restore all facilities to pre-corona levels

Lucknow, Feb 12 (UNI) Owing to the successful handling of Covid-19 in the state, the Yogi government has directed all the medical colleges and institutions in Uttar Pradesh to restore all the medical facilities to pre corona levels and a circular has also been issued in this regard.
However, to handle any kind of emergency, the corona wards will be available in the hospitals.

Reservation policy for panchayat polls issued in UP

Lucknow, Feb 12 (UNI) The Uttar Pradesh government on Friday released the reservation policy for the upcoming three-tier panchayat polls in the state.
Reservation by rotation will be implemented in the panchayat elections, Additional Chief Secretary, Panchayati Raj, Manoj Kumar Singh said. The reservation system in place for the elections from 1995 to 2015 will be taken into account in the new policy, he said.
