MUMBAI: Chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Friday visited the Jawhar town of Palghar district and interacted with health workers, before taking stock of developmental projects in the district.
Later speaking to reporters, chief minister said that he wants to develop the entire district. His visit to only Jawhar, the stronghold of the BJP, was seen as a political move. Taking dig at the earlier BJP government, he said that just carving out a new district (Palghar district was carved out of Thane district in August 2014), is not enough. The development of the district is key.
He said that Jawhar needs to be developed as a hill station. He said that along with focussing on development of tribals in the district, their culture too needs to be preserved.
He interacted with the staff at the Jamsar primary health centre and understood the Covid-19 and vaccination status. He later met children at the anganwadi centre in Kharwand. He took an update on the malnourished children in the tribal belts of the district.
The chief minister held a review meeting with district officials and inspected the houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana scheme.
