Thabo Mnyamane struck a brilliant free-kick to give TTM a vital 1-0 victory over Maritzburg United in a PSL clash at the Harry Gwala stadium on Friday.

It was only TTM's second win of the season and moves them above their opponents on the table and out of the relegation zone.

It was the Team of Choice that started the stronger of the teams Thabiso Kutumela drawing a finger tip save from goalkeeper Washington Arubi as early as the seventh minute.

In the 24th minute, Bandile Shandu had a golden opportunity for Maritzburg but the defender shot straight at Aruba after being put through on goal by Judas Moseamedi.

The visitors absorbed all the pressure and then stunned the home team four minutes into first half time as Mnyamane scored directly from a free-kick.

The hosts created numerous chances in the second half but were badly let down by some poor finishing.

TTM always looked dangerous on the counter-attack and Alfred Ngengane came close to doubling the lead for TTM with a header but was denied by goalkeeper Marcel Engelhardt.

The Team of Choice threw everything forward to find the equaliser but it just wasn't to be as Ernst Middedorp's charges suffered their 10th defeat of the season in 15 games.
