Two women held for outraging woman’s modesty

Phagwara, Feb 12 (UNI) The Bilga police have arrested two women on the charge of outraging
a woman’s modesty and committing theft.
The investigating Officer (IO) Daljit Kumar said Friday the accused have been identified
as Nirmaljit Kaur of Bilga village and Sonia of Ghaziabad.
The victim had complained to the police that she was living separately from her husband and
in-laws since 2008 and had obtained stay order from a court in connection with the house where
she was living with her two children.
She said in her complaint that she had gone somewhere on January 15 when the accused
barged into her house and stole household goods.
She said both used filthy language against her and beat her children and injured them when she tried to save them. She was attacked and injured by the accused who tore her clothes.
IO said a case was registered against the accused.
In another case, the Mehatpur police have arrested a villager on the charge of brewing illicit
liquor. The investigating officer Sanjiv Kumar said 72000Kg of Lahan (raw liquor) were recovered from the possession of the accused identified as Rup Lal, resident of Udhowal village.
A case under section the Excise Act has been registered against the accused.
In another incident, the Mehat Pur police have booked unidentified persons on the charge of stealing batteries from Mehat Pur telephone exchange.
BSNL JE Jasvir Kumar Nakodar complained to the police that the accused stole 12 batteries from Mehat Pur telephone exchange.
The case has been registered against unidentified accused.
In another case the Lohian Khas police have booked two travel agents for allegedly duping
two villagers of Rs 47 lakhs on the pretext of sending them abroad.
The investigating officer (IO) Avtar Singh said the accused have been identified as
Gurpreet Singh of Fateh Pur Bhangwan village and his brother Lakhvir Singh.
He said Talwindar Singh of Parjian Kalan village and Satnam Singh of Gopi Pur village
complained to Jalandhar SSP that they paid Rs 24 lakhs and Rs 23 Lakhs respectively to the accused for facilitating their migration abroad but neither they were sent abroad nor their money was returned.
IO said cases have been registered against the accused after inquiries.
