PATNA: Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar on Friday said strict action would be taken against the persons found guilty in the Covid-19 testing fraud at some places in the state.
“I got information about irregularities in the covid-19 testing while I was coming to the state capital from Delhi. Immediately, I sought detailed information about the irregularities from the health department’s principal secretary. I was told that inquiries in 22 districts have been completed. Irregularities have been found in one district. Wherever the irregularities have been found, actions were taken immediately. If anyone found guilty of committing irregularities, tough action will be taken. If someone has not conducted Covid-19 test and has prepared the data, it is very wrong. Action will be taken,” Nitish told reporters at the airport soon after returning to the state capital after his three-day visit to Delhi.
CM also said he had asked the principal secretary to take the matter seriously and conduct a thorough inquiry. He said no one found guilty would be spared.
“Probably, one member raised the issue of irregularities in Covid-19 testing in the Rajya Sabha. The principal secretary informed me that a detailed report has been sent to the secretary of the Union ministry of health for placing the facts in the Upper House.”
Nitish further said, the state’s principal secretary also informed him that he was looking into all aspects of the alleged irregularities. “I will again take detailed information about the irregularities from the principal secretary, tomorrow,” he said.
The CM went to the national capital on Wednesday. During his three-day stay in Delhi, he met PM Narendra Modi, Union home minister Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda and several senior leaders of other NDA allies. Nitish is learnt to have discussed several political issues ranging from the LJP chief Chirag Paswan’s role in the NDA, development issues of Bihar to the forthcoming assembly polls in some states.
“I had to meet the President of India Ram Nath Kovind, today. But his phone came this morning. We held a talk over the phone,” Nitish said, adding he met many people during his stay in Delhi.
To a question, Nitish said there was no talk with the PM on the issue of JD(U)’s inclusion in the national cabinet.
