Thane Mayor wants action by police, civic staff on people not using masks in public places

Thane, Feb 11 (UNI) Thane Mayor Naresh Mhaske has on Thursday taken serious exception to those not not using mask in public places in the city and has sought joint action by the city police and the civic officials on those violating the regulations.

In a letter addressed to the civic commissioner Dr. Vipin Sharma the Mayor has pointed out that of late the citizens have taken lightly the issue of Covid19 situation in the city.

The pandemic is still not not over as yet and the work done by the civic corporation and staff during the difficult times is commendable and we were successful in keeping it under control he said.

At the same time it has been observed that in malls, cinema houses, and restaurants the citizens do n ot not make use of mask and move around freely which is hazardous and inviting the pandemic.

Also it should be born in mind that there are still some patients of Covid19 in the city and their movement may spread the pandemic to others and hence it is absolutely necessary to make use of the mask at all times he stressed.

He also wanted the authorities to continue with the contract tracing as done before and there should be no no lapses in any protocol given by the government from time to time he said.
