Maha Govt signs MoU with Flipkart for sale of rural products

Mumbai, Feb 11 (UNI) The Maharashtra government's Small Industries Corporation and Khadi Village Industries Board on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Flipkart, a leading company in the field of e-commerce, for the sale of products made in rural parts of the state across the country.
The MoU was signed in the presence of state Industry Minister Subhash Desai, Minister of State for Industry Aditi Tatkare, secretary of Industry Baldev Singh, chief executive officer of Khadi Village Industries Board Nilima Kerketa, managing director of Small Industries Corporation Praveen Darade and representatives of Flipkart.
Under this agreement, Flipkart will sell items made by rural artisans, weavers, handicraftsmen and small-scale industries such as Paithani sarees, wooden toys, handicrafts, jewellery, paper items, purses and other handicraft items.
Mr Desai expressed confidence that the agreement would create a nationwide market for products made by local workers, weavers, handicraftsmen and small-scale industries in the state.
Flipkart will train artisans in packaging and branding of rural products. Also, it has developed its website and application in Marathi language for the same.
