Sonic the Hedgehog movie sequel finally has a release date. The movie’s official Twitter handle has announced that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will release on April 8, 2022.

Back in May 2020, it was revealed that the sequel is in development. Jeff Fowler, who directed the original Sonic the Hedgehog, will be returning for the second movie. The script will be written by Josh Miller and Pat Casey. Ben Shwartz is expected to reprise the lead role.
Actress Tika Sumpter has recently revealed that Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will begin filming in March. The filming will take place in Hawaii and Vancouver. Sumpter will be returning to play the role of Maddie. Details about the plot of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 aren’t revealed yet.
