A special court of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has sentenced a Bangladeshi citizen to 29 years in prison for one of the main accused in the 2014 Khagragarh blast case.
Special NIA court judge Subhendu Samanta on Wednesday sentenced Sheikh Kausar to five years in five cases and two years to two years each. A fine of Rs 29 thousand has also been imposed on Kausar who confessed to the crime before the court.
NIA lawyer Shyamal Ghosh said that Kausar was charged under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prohibition) Act (abbreviated UAPA) for waging war against any Asian country aligned with the Indian government, for foreign acts and criminal conspiracy. Has been convicted.
He said that the blast on October 2, 2014, was reported to be related to Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). A rented house in the Khagragarh area of Bardhaman district of West Bengal exploded when bombs and explosive devices were being manufactured.
