Domtar: 4Q Earnings Snapshot

FORT MILL, S.C. (AP) _ Domtar Corp. (UFS) on Thursday reported a loss of $59 million in its fourth quarter.

On a per-share basis, the Fort Mill, South Carolina-based company said it had a loss of $1.07. Earnings, adjusted to account for discontinued operations and restructuring costs, came to 34 cents per share.

The results missed Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of three analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for earnings of 47 cents per share.

The paper and packaging maker posted revenue of $920 million in the period.

For the year, the company reported a loss of $127 million, or $2.29 per share, swinging to a loss in the period. Revenue was reported as $3.65 billion.

Domtar shares have risen nearly 8% since the beginning of the year. The stock has decreased slightly more than 1% in the last 12 months.
