It looks as though The Mandalorian is cleaning house.

Actor Gina Carano has reportedly been released from her role on The Mandalorian as former Rebel shock trooper Cara Dune, following significant criticism regarding her social media posts.

In a statement to The Hollywood Reporter, a Lucasfilm spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter that "Gina Carano is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future."

"Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable," they continued.

Executive producer Jon Favreau originally created the character of Cara Dune specifically for Carano.

Mashable has reached out to Disney for comment.
