Congress men stage dharna against hike in petrol, diesel and gas prices in Hoshiarpur dist

Hoshiarpur, Feb 11 (UNI) Workers of District Congress Committee, led by their chief Kuldip Kumar Nanda, on Thursday staged protest dharna for about two hours in front of party office at Mahilpur Adda against the hike in the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas among others.

Speaking on the occasion, various speakers, including cabinet minister Sunder Sham Arora, Kuldip Kumar Nanda and Municipal Councillor Sarwan Singh, strongly condemned the Central government for its failure in controlling the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas. They said by hiking the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas, the Central government had put undue financial burden on common man.

They said the cooking gas cylinder which was sold for Rs 438 in 2014 has crossed Rs 750 now. The prices of crude oil are almost half than what it used to be in 2014. Due to decrease in the price of crude oil, the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas should also be reduced accordingly. But instead of decreasing the prices the Central government had deliberately enhanced them, they alleged.

They warned the Central government to decrease the prices of petrol, diesel and cooking gas failing which they would intensify their agitation.
