Coronavirus India Updates: Active Cases Decline To 1.3% Of Covid-19 Tally

The Covid-19 pandemic shows signs of receding in India as active cases decline and deaths per-day remain below the 100-mark.

The country reported 94 casualties in the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 1.55 lakh in the world’s second-worst infected country, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8 a.m. on Feb. 10, 2021.

India also reported more than 11,000 fresh Covid-19 cases, which was lower than the 13,087 recoveries reported in the day. This led to a fall in active infections below 1.42 lakh; they had crossed 10 lakh mid-September.

Active cases now account for a mere 1.3% of the total Covid-19 confirmed cases. That’s lower than deaths which account for 1.43%.

The number of healthcare and frontline workers vaccinated against Covid-19 has reached 66.11 lakh on the morning of day 26 of the nationwide inoculation drive.

Twenty five cases of adverse effect following immunisation have been reported till 6:30 p.m. on the 25th day of the vaccination drive. The health ministry said India is the fastest country to reach 60 lakh vaccinations, achieving it in just 24 days.

The daily number of new coronavirus cases in the U.S. was under 100,000 for a third consecutive day, the first time that’s happened since the week of Nov. 2. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that Americans wear a cloth mask over a medical mask.

Over 107 million people have contracted the Covid-19 virus so far with 2.35 million deaths. More than 152 million vaccination shots have been given worldwide.
