Priyanka takes holy dip in Ganga on Mauni Amavasya

Prayagraj, Feb 11 (UNI) Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Thursday took a holy dip in the river Ganges on the occasion of Mauni Amavasya at the Arail ghat in Naini.

She also offered prayers and took blessings from the Shankaracharya of Dwarika Peeth, Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati.

Senior Congress leader Pramod Tiwari said that Ms Vadra, a accompanied by her daughter and her friend, also enjoyed a boat ride on the holy river.

Mr Tiwari said that the Gandhi scion reached the Bamrauli Airport at 1200 hrs and directly headed to Swaraj Bhawan. After spending about an hour at the Swaraj Bhawan, she left for the holy bath in the Ganga to Arail Ghat.

Following her holy dip, she visited the residence of Shankaracharya, situated at the Mankameshwar temple, where she took the blessings of Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand and took 'prasad.'

After meeting him, she told mediapersons that she was very happy after coming here because there is a very old association between the Shankaracharya and their family.

'I always stay in his contact and today, I got to meet him. I am quite happy,' she added.

Meanwhile, the administration did a flower shower on the devotees through a helicopter on Mauni Amavasya Snan. After meeting the Shankaracharya, Ms Vadra left for Delhi. This was her personal journey.
