National Deworming Day observed at DBC Maram

Senapati, February 10 2021:
National Deworming Day was observed today by the Department of Chemistry of DBC Maram.
A health talk regarding the causes of signs and symptoms, management and preventive aspects of the worm infestation was delivered by Tamerella, a class representative of the department.
Fr (Dr) KO Sebastian, the Principal of the college encouraged the students to avoid unhealthy food habits and develop healthy practices.
Sr Bindu Thomas, the HOD of the Department along with the students of the Chemistry Department distributed deworming tablets at the nearby villages of Maram.
The deworming tablets were provided by Dr H Loli Mao, the former CMO of Senapati and Elizabeth RK, the District Program Manager (NHM) Senapati.
It may be mentioned that worm infestation is a common health problem seen in preschool and school children.
According to a National Health Mission report, 836 million children are at risk of parasitic worm infection worldwide and 241 million children between the age of 1 and 14 years are at risk of parasitic intestinal worm infestation in India.
The Health Ministry decided to observe February 10 and August 10 as the National Deworming Day.
The villagers expressed their gratitude to the Department of Chemistry for their kindness.
