Pakistan are firm favourites to beat the Proteas in the opening T20 in Lahore on Thursday, if local bookmakers are to be believed.

The match starts at 12:30 (SA time) and is the first in a three-match series.

According to Sportingbet, the hosts are 4/9 favourites to win the match while South Africa are underdogs at 7/4

In terms of individual performances, Janneman Malan and Reeza Hendricks can both be backed at 3/1 to be South Africa's top run scorers on the day while JJ Smuts and Ryan Rickelton both come in at 4/1

On the bowling favourites, Tabraiz Shamsi - 3/1 - is the favourite to card South Africa's best figures of the match.

This is the first time that the sides have ever played T20 cricket against each other in Pakistan and there will not be any spectators at the ground, but Pakistan's favourites tag is bolstered by the fact the beat the Proteas 2-0 in the recently completed Test series.

The Proteas, under the captaincy of Heinrich Klaasen, are also a largely inexperienced group with the bulk of their first-choice stars having returned to South Africa after the Tests.
