A 35-year-old man believed to be a taxi owner was shot and killed while driving in Durban on Monday afternoon.
"He was found with multiple [gunshot] wounds to his body," KwaZulu-Natal police spokesperson Thembeka Mbele told News24.
Video footage of the incident shows a team of emergency personnel and police blocking the road where the incident happened.
A large group of onlookers can also be seen gathering near the scene.
Mbele said the man was shot while driving a private vehicle in Grey Street at around 15:30.
He said the motive was still unknown but "a case of murder has been opened at Durban Central police station and police are currently investigating".
No arrests have been made but police are looking for any leads that could lead to the apprehension of the suspect or suspects.
