Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president J.P. Nadda on Wednesday accused the Trinamool Congress government of doing nothing for the development of tribals and farmers and assured that the BJP will work for the all-round advancement of the people if voted to power.
“For development to take place, the BJP is the only way… Development will take place when Mamataji leaves and the lotus blooms in the State.” Mr. Nadda said addressing a programme (chai pe charcha) in Pashchim Medinipur. He flagged the BJP’s second “Parivartan Yatra” and accused the Trinamool Congress government of “autocratic behaviour”.
“Those who win in the name of Maa Maati Maanush [mother, land and people – Trinamool’s slogan], indulge in autocratic behaviour, corruption and extortion,” he told party workers at Kalaikunda.
The BJP president again raised the issue of the non-implementation of Central schemes like the Ayushman Bharat and the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi and accused the Mamata Banerjee government of coming in the way of development. Asking the people of the State whether they are getting the benefits of the Central schemes, the BJP president said all schemes will be implemented once the BJP government comes to power.
“On one side there is Narendra Modi who wants the advancement of Bengal and on the other is Mamata Banerjee who is trying to stop all development projects,” Mr. Nadda said.
Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar also came down on the State government alleging that an atmosphere of ‘fear’ pervades in the State. “Freedom means freedom from fear; democracy means freedom from fear; constitutional working means freedom from fear; rule of law means freedom from fear. We are at the moment not free from fear… People are so much in fear they can’t even talk about the fear,” Mr. Dhankhar said at an event in Kolkata.
