Ookla brings video streaming test to Speedtest app

Ookla Speedtest has added a new video test feature to its app that allows users to measure the video streaming quality.
Ookla says that using this feature a user can access their internet connection’s ability whether it can stream a video at the best possible resolution.
The feature is free and currently available only on the iOS version of the Speedtest app. Ooka has confirmed that other platforms will also get this feature soon.
Video streaming performance can vary from time-to-time irrespective of how fast the internet connection is. Ookla says that this is because service providers manage video traffic differently than other traffics.
Speedtest video testing plays an actual video to specifically measure the performance of video streaming on your network at any time.
The video test also lets users know which device is best suited for streaming videos at the moment based on speed test results. This can help users decide whether they try to stream on their TV or other devices, says Ookla.
The video test feature Speedtest app also keeps a log of all the video tests which will give users the option to register a complaint with their internet service provider in case they are constantly not getting optimal speed.
How to measure video streaming quality using the app
Update Speedtest app to its latest version and open it. Then tap on the Video option from the bottom ribbon and tap Go.
