VARANASI: After BJP MLA Alka Rai, another victim one Mau resident Ashok Singh, whose contractor brother was killed allegedly by mafia donturned-MLA Mukhtar Ansari’s men for not paying extortion, has sent a stinging letter to former Congress president Rahul Gandhi and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra questioning why Congress-ruled states are shielding the don.
In his emotional letter, Singh has asked the Gandhi siblings to ask the CMs of Punjab and Rajasthan to stop patronizing Mukhtar, and added that if they have so much affection for Ansari they should appoint him UPCC president.
Singh said, “My brother Ajay Prakash Singh alias Munna, a PWD contractor was brutally murdered in full public view in August 2009 for refusing to pay extortion money. Even the prime witness of my brother’s murder Ram Singh Maurya and police constable deployed for his security were also shot dead in March 2010. All these killings were masterminded by Mukhtar. I filed complaints following which FIRs were lodged. These cases have been transferred to MP MLA Court Allahabad.”
“I lost my brother and close ones and am struggling for justice while living in a state of fear with my family, widow of my brother and their children,” Singh added.
The crackdown launched on the mafia dons and their gangs by chief minister Yogi Adityanath revived our hopes of getting justice but Congress-ruled states are patronizing Mukhtar, he further said. It is disheartening to see the facilities being enjoyed by Mukhtar in jail of Congressruled Punjab, while his son Abbas Ansari, who is also an absconder and is carrying reward, is being hosted by the government in Rajasthan where his grand wedding ceremony was held, Singh added.
It is sad to see criminals enjoying the status of state guests in Punjab and Rajasthan, while Mukhtar’s victims are waiting to see progress in 14 cases pending in court against him in UP, he alleged. He further requested Rahul and Priyanka to ask the CMs of Punjab and Rajasthan to stop patronizing Mukhtar and his family, and added, “But, if you also have affection for this mafia don, then replace your UP Congress president Ajay Kumar Lallu by Mukhtar.”
Earlier, BJP MLA Alka Rai, widow of slain MLA Krishnanand Rai, had sent a letter to Priyanka in October 2020 after UP Police was not allowed to bring Mukhtar by Ropar Jail authorities in Punjab for further hearing in pending cases. Rai sent a second letter to Priyanka in January first week, and then the third after photographs of Abbas Ansari’s marriage went viral on social media on January 30.
